term two of eight for me.

shout out to the seniors; three terms of high school left.
the word "graduation" never sounded so sweet.
mixed emotions are probably common and the symptoms of senior-itis
- if not already present by the age of 17, will soon be making themselves
known in the last months of high school.

a few things you can probably agree on NOT missing:
1. school lunches. we appreciate the effort lunch ladies, but mass production usually leads to a lack of quality. and well, school lunches are a prime example. i'll stick with my pb&j. thanks.
2. advisory - self explanatory. i'd be in shock to meet someone that enjoys the "privilege" of extra homework time and less time to feed the bottomless pit us growing teens have in our bellies.
3. attendance school - obviously this wouldn't be a problem if we cared about punctuality. but, it's high school, probably not going to happen.
4. high school drama - i've managed to stay out of it for the most part, but i'll admit, it can be pretty entertaining and quite comical. i'm not a fan of the female gender. sorry ladies.
5. pda - walking through the halls to see excessive, prolonged, passionate, teenage-dream, hugging and kissing that makes your insides wrench and takes the strength of a body-builder to resist regurgitating your breakfast. we could all use a little less of the hormonal kids with no self-control. forgive me, i'm also not a fan.
6. homework - i'm sure any college bound kids would have their share of homework, and it may be difficult, but right now, i could use a break.
7. social status - it appears our high school still has some deranged students that insist on social classes. the cool-cats of the school, they run this place. ha, what a joke. sky-high egos and arrogant attitudes, please people, let's grow up a little bit.
8. parking - walking four houses up the street saves me the trouble, but i'm sure it can be quite the downer on your day. when i think about it, people park next to my house for school. so sorry.
9. those people - let's not hang on this topic too much, but just those few people that your personalities clash more than orange juice and tooth paste. let's just say, graduation will be a very happy day.
10. the halls - the ones filled with gossip, swearing, crude and dirty jokes. i can not wait for my last day in this place, i can only see it getting worse.

a few things that may have touched your heart, and you will miss dearly:
1. teachers - not all, but the few - Newman, Wilcock, Deans, Sandy, Gallagher, and anyone else that has inspired you, i think it's appropriate to miss some of them.
2. parking - don't be confused, yes, this is on both lists, you know that one day when you got front row parking, the top of the drag, or next to the gate at the rec side? you loved that day.
3. sports - primarily football and basketball. there's nothing like the rush of dominating lone peak in a basketball game or coming home with a win against alta's football team. [we like girls soccer too]
4. dances - some you love, some you hate, but they are some of the most memorable times in high school, specially that time you danced like a fool and loved every second.
5. sluffing - you rebel. when you're in college, you don't get quite the thrill of skipping class, because no one really cares. your attendance is not required, and your teacher isn't going to give you and NC for finding something better to do than listen to lectures. we'll all miss sluffing.
6. seminary - your favorite teachers ever. Vest, Taggart, Fossum, Brown, you loved them. and i have no doubt they've changed your life for the better.
7. Gandy or Taco runs - granted they will continue.
8. having a social life - you may not feel like you have much of one now, because you are sitting here, reading this blog. but it's only going to get worse. after high school, everyone heads off to other colleges and universities. say goodbye to your fellow seniors. and say hello to facebook and blogging - you're last form of communication with distant friends.
9. the men - they'll be home don't worry. their two year sabbatical in other states or foreign countries will be much appreciated and they'll be blessed. but you'll miss them too.
10. the feel - you and i know there is nothing like the teenage years, some are in a rush to grow up [like me] others take advantage of their glory days and enjoy things one day at a time. you'll miss high school. even if it's not right away.

please, if i am missing anything, say so.
let's not forget anything we love or hate.
these are precious memories we're talking about.

congrats seniors.
enjoy your only, second term of your senior year,
your last, first semester at pleasant grove,
your last year of high school ever.
hope it goes out with a bang.

10/31

halloween might have been on a sunday.
but that didn't stop us from partying.
we probably watched Polter Geist and
played a holy bunches of slap-rock paper scissors
and fifa 10. maybe we ate homemade doughnuts too.

maybe we were tempted to carry around his AK47 airsoft gun.
but, that probably wasn't a good idea with the costume.
somewhere in there we probably ate really good chili too.
a good saturday.
happy halloween.

baby, it's cold outside

so i got a car.

don't get me wrong, i'll miss my scootsie.
but we're kind of in a fight right now.
we don't get along well in the cold.

scootsie, it's not me, it's you.
i'm sorry, but i'm replacing you, with
theodore. my car. yes, i got a car.

i'll miss the memories
- getting in two wrecks, and misplacing my skin during
their rendezvous with the asphalt in the process.
- speed bumps, there's nothing more exhilarating.
- front row parking, everywhere i go.
- passengers riding slut, and holding on for dear life.
- the money you saved me. three dollars for gas every
three weeks, doesn't get much better.

don't worry, i'll see you when spring sets in.
it was nice knowing you. have a warm winter in the garage.

rumor has it

pleasant grove football: not too shabby

that calculus test: was harder than necessary

i write poems: yes, that's true.

it snowed today: sadly, that's true too.

cupcakes: who knew i was so talented at baking.

the blue notebook: was the first one i've finished
from start to finish, front and back of every page.

painting: when it comes to using fingers and drawing
on faces, i'm not to shabby at that either.

that morningside: there's one tomorrow &  you should come.
yes, you.

dwarf pigs: cost about 300-500 dollars.
why get a puppy?

tomorrow: probably the brazilian's birthday. his name is Gustavo.

halloween: it's on a sunday. i might dress up too.

rumors.. who needs them?

i'm a poet, bet you didn't know it.

something i wrote a while ago.

if He appeared:

If Christ appeared at my house one day,
I try to imagine what I'd do and say.

Would I avoid His gaze and put on a show,
hoping inside me, that He wouldn't know,
that I've lost who I am and can't find my way,
and with guilt I remember the price that He paid.

But He sees right through me and knows what I've done,
regrets surround me, I want to turn and run.
Satan takes over in that single moment,
I'm not worthy enough for the atonement.

His grace overwhelms me, as does His love.
But questions arise, "Am I fit for above?"
The Holy Ghost warms me just to reassure,
Christ died that I may repent and be pure.

or

Could I tell my Savior and brother, It's me!
I've lived every moment with thoughts of thee.
I have tried my best to do what is right,
by living the gospel and sharing the light.

I've made my share of mistakes, I'm sure,
but through repentance, I'm made clean and pure.
Could my Redeemer look at me and see,
I've done all I can with what He's given me?

Did I try to help others along the way,
that we may all return to him someday?
Can I testify and witness of His love?
By faith we can reach His courts above.

When He appears I hope I can say
that I've done my best every single day.

the sound of music.

today, i was lucky.
i was blessed with the beauty of music in everything i did.
i woke up to my mother playing records of motab.
nine o'clock church - primary program for sacrament.
I Am A Child Of God never sounded so beautiful.
i skipped class, for another incredible sacrament at eleven.
a special needs program.
again, lovely hymn 301 was sang. spirit strong, matchless.
testimonies born, from celestial beings, who know nothing but love.
around two thirty, i went to ward choir for the first time in months.
if you could hie to kolob
for the beauty of the earth
in his footsteps
but my favorite: opening new christmas music.
we sang, and the spirit echoed in the empty chapel.

music is a huge part of my life.
i can only imagine how much easier it would be if
eminem, akon, lady gaga, ke$ha, or anything questionable
was replaced with motab, guitar and piano makes.

favorite lds bands that are still "cool" to listen to:
tenth avenue north
and addison road.
you should check them out.

if you have others, i'd love to know about them.
please, enlighten me.

times like these

when was the last time you saw one of these?
yeah, i didn't think so.
i thought i killed it on my scooter drive.
but nope. so i laid in the road, took a picture.
i grabbed a stick, and carried it to safety.
love him.

this is where we like to go sometimes.
so i took pictures,
they don't do it justice.
and if i could capture the star-lit sky,
i would. but nothing can contain it.

dear world,
we love it here.
wish there were more places like it.
wish everyone saw the beauty here.
so we visit. as often as possible.
thank you.

manic monday.

who likes monday's anyways?

tomorrow, it's one of those lame sauce minimal mondays again.
basically, the teachers are just as sick of school as we are.
how about another break? deal.

tomorrow, i'll come home from school, read about the constitution,
write a paper about the constitution,
and pray that i never have to read that awful book again.

tomorrow, i will eat peanut butter.
multiple times, probably.

tomorrow, i will be sporting a green dress.
boots, maybe, tights maybe.
but definitely a green dress.

tomorrow, i will consider cleaning my room.
it's not too bad. but my laundry has a way of migrating
on my keyboard, and floor, and bed, and chair..

tomorrow, i will die from another cruel punishment
of unbearable lectures, and urges to snooze during calculus.
calculus? not doing so hot.

tomorrow, i will probably color
with my castle of crayons.

tomorrow, i will see danny dorius for the first time in
four days. don't say it, i already know i'm a baby back.

tomorrow, i will lather chapstick repeatedly, because
i got several new tubes and can't resist.

tomorrow, i will take a test for medical anatomy, and practice resisting
or ignoring the gag reflex that will be begging to present itself when i see
the disturbing images of diseases and who knows what on my
computer screen. i might not vomit.

tomorrow, i will realize that my goal for a 4.0 is
unachievable with calculus kicking my butt like it is.

tomorrow, i will feel the spirit.
nothing like seminary after a long weekend.

tomorrow, i want it to rain. i want it to be windy.
i want to drive up the canyon again.

tomorrow, i'll want some hot chocolate.
probably.
and i'll have some. hazelnut.

tomorrow, we might attempt our first family home evening
in such a long, long time. but, let's not get my hopes up.
someone will probably have work. like usual.

tomorrow, i'll play hymns on the piano.

tomorrow, i'll be on time to all of my classes.
time to buckle down, even though i have no motivation
whatsoever when it comes to school.

tomorrow, i'll have a cookie with breakfast.
probably. cause i can't resist mama's
homemade chocolate chip cookies. so good.

tomorrow, i won't be in any rush to do that 3-5 page
paper for political science. i'll turn it in around 10:30 p.m.
most likely.

tomorrow, i'll slip a note into my brother's room.
he's having a rough go at life. i love him.

tomorrow, i'll be dying to visit the temple grounds.
i probably will. because God is more important than
homework, and i'll be avoiding it like the plague.

tomorrow, i'll choose to be happy.
i'll choose as hard as i can. because i want it.

tomorrow, i'll look at this list, and
laugh, because i didn't do very much of it.
in fact, probably none. except this one.

tomorrow, i'll blog.
probably.
because i'm addicted.

tomorrow, i'll make a frigid drive on my scooter
to the high school, because i'm lazy, and
the half-a-block walk is too much for me at the
early hours in the morn.
but hey, nothing like an icy cold wake up call.
goooood morning.

tomorrow
is just another day.
one day at a time.
right?

hope your monday is swell.

the worth of souls.

"Think of the purest, most all-consuming love you can imagine. Now multiply that love by an infinite amount—that is the measure of God’s love for you. God does not look on the outward appearance. I believe that He doesn’t care one bit if we live in a castle or a cottage, if we are handsome or homely, if we are famous or forgotten. Though we are incomplete, God loves us completely. Though we are imperfect, He loves us perfectly. Though we may feel lost and without compass, God love encompasses us completely."
President Uchtdorf

d&c 18:10

love seminary.
learn the gospel.
live in His name.

fall break

hope yours is better than mine

Sunday, October 10, 2010

the blessings of conference.

you hear the talks.
you watch the speakers.
you read them a week later.

one thing -
skip to the end.

one of my favorite parts about the talks
is not always the talk itself. but the blessings
the general authorities leave at the end of their
messages.

they know life isn't easy. they know it's a
constant battle for us, as it is for them. they know.
and they bless us, every time. they are speakers
for the Lord, and the prophets, seers and revalators.
don't underestimate the closing sentences, and blessings
they leave with us before they are done.

i dare you,
to read them.
go to lds.org.
and read the last few sentences of all the talks.
they bless us. lots. the Lord knows. he hasn't forgotten.
you WILL be blessed for your strength.

boyd k. packer

“Don’t look back.”
"I promise that ahead of you is peace and happiness for you and your family. The ultimate end of all activity in the Church is that a man and his wife and their children can be happy at home. And I invoke the blessings of the Lord upon you who are struggling against this terrible plague, to find the healing that is available to us in the priesthood of the Lord."
