from one uvhs student to another.

dear kirsten,
a word to the wise about the last semester of your senior year & bettering your college class habits:

1. don't procrastinate. really, it's the worst. & when you head down to SUU this august you can bet your habitual procrastination will be along for the ride.

2. do your own work. mom won't be there to help you write your ten page research paper at midnight, so you might as well learn to do it yourself now. (yes, that's going to mean working - really hard.)

3. recognize that this is your education. take advantage of the opportunity you have to learn. knowledge is priceless and can never be taken from you.

4. stay organized. get a planner and carry it everywhere you go. stay on top of things & be aware of the requirements for each class you are enrolled in.

5. actually attend class. (including the ones you hate.) i can guarantee that skipping isn't worth it. you only get more behind, and in the long run, won't be beneficial at all.

6. get ahead. yes - be an overachiever. turn papers and assignments in early. start projects weeks in advance, because you never know what could come up in the near future.

7. communicate with your professors. if they know you are a good student and trying to make the most out of your education, they will be willing to help you.

8. study. for at least 30 minutes each school night, review and really learn what the professor taught that day. these habits will spare you during finals week.

9. use your free time wisely. try not to sit around and watch re-runs of new girl or bones. (and you might want to ease off the facebook stalking.) maybe try working on homework.

10. have fun. but really, make sure you're enjoying it. if you're not, it's not worthwhile.

hope this semester is better than the last. & remember, only 152 days until graduation.
love, kirsten.

the truth is:

i'm one of those people.
i love too easily & care too much.
even the ones that hurt me.
