dear kirsten,
a word to the wise about the last semester of your senior year & bettering your college class habits:
1. don't procrastinate. really, it's the worst. & when you head down to SUU this august you can bet your habitual procrastination will be along for the ride.
2. do your own work. mom won't be there to help you write your ten page research paper at midnight, so you might as well learn to do it yourself now. (yes, that's going to mean working - really hard.)
3. recognize that this is your education. take advantage of the opportunity you have to learn. knowledge is priceless and can never be taken from you.
4. stay organized. get a planner and carry it everywhere you go. stay on top of things & be aware of the requirements for each class you are enrolled in.
5. actually attend class. (including the ones you hate.) i can guarantee that skipping isn't worth it. you only get more behind, and in the long run, won't be beneficial at all.
6. get ahead. yes - be an overachiever. turn papers and assignments in early. start projects weeks in advance, because you never know what could come up in the near future.
7. communicate with your professors. if they know you are a good student and trying to make the most out of your education, they will be willing to help you.
8. study. for at least 30 minutes each school night, review and really learn what the professor taught that day. these habits will spare you during finals week.
9. use your free time wisely. try not to sit around and watch re-runs of new girl or bones. (and you might want to ease off the facebook stalking.) maybe try working on homework.
10. have fun. but really, make sure you're enjoying it. if you're not, it's not worthwhile.
hope this semester is better than the last. & remember, only 152 days until graduation.
love, kirsten.

the truth is:
i'm one of those people.
i love too easily & care too much.
even the ones that hurt me.

remember,
the hardest part about life,
is knowing sometimes you have to give up what you want
because what you want isn't what is the best for you.
&
sometimes we don't understand why things happen;
but they do, and they will.
just don't forget who you are along the way.
MIA: and this is why.
i was lost for a while.
in my bedroom.
i couldn't find my way out, or to my computer.
so, i took my mom's advice;
three weeks after it was given.
i cleaned my room.
listen up & listen good.
listen up & listen good.
clean your room.
and keep it that way.
it might save you five hours later on.

UVU English 1010
this is what i find myself doing after spending the last three hours unproductively on a 10 page research paper that is due tomorrow. yeah, i started last night, shut up.
and no, it didn't really help.
still as unmotivated as i was ten minutes ago when i completed page four. professor fullmer, we can't all love sentence variety and a paper free of expletives + be verbs. i'm sorry.

marriage.
"kirsten, i can't wait to see who you marry. you know why? cause he'll have to be a God. seriously, i think about all the guys you've dated and none of them are good enough to be with you."

i can remember the big picture.

for the love of the game.
unfortunately, time doesn't slow down for anyone.
& i still sit here wondering where the last four high school soccer seasons went.
somehow, tonight was my senior night and my last soccer game in my high school career.
tears were shed, but mostly because going to State never seemed so real.
we got robbed - i wish a thousand losing seasons on Bingham girls soccer.
one point away from making history at pleasant grove high school.
i swear, State was so close i could taste it; mostly it tasted like salt water leaking from my eyes.
i can honestly say, i've never been happier in my life than when i fell to the ground, exhausted and dripping in sweat, hearing the whistle signaling the end of our game. we won. we were going to state.
until bingham had to sweep in and crush our dreams by one. single. point.
never had i been so disappointed to see something so real, disappear.
State, you didn't have the chance to meet Kit Goodman.
but Pleasant Grove Girls Soccer will see you there next year.
more tears were shed.
more joy.
more extreme heartache.
more friendships made.
more goals achieved.
more muscles torn.
more love.
more talent.
more hard work
than pleasant grove girls soccer has ever seen.
& all for the love of the game.
senior soccer season: complete.

Priesthood session.
no, girls night out.
the alpine loop: unreal.
the alpine loop: unreal.
dinner consisted of Macaroni Grill.
too good.
also, meet Brant.
i may or may not have fallen in love with him.
oh, and that bottle you see under my arm?
Brant let me keep it, for free. naturally, i named it Brant.
